Great Smokey Mountains National Park

Great Smoky Mountains feature lots of trees, rivers, waterfalls, and mountains. Water vapor forms frequently and hovers between the mountains, forming fog. This fog gives a smoke-like appearance in the mountains. During fall, the trees put on a color show. My trip to Great Smoky Mountains National Park focussed on finding fall colors, and there were plenty.
I also enjoyed hikes to waterfalls. This is Laurel Falls, 80 feet waterfall with a bridge dividing it into two parts. This hike is on a paved trail with a long, gradual incline. It is a popular trail, so arrive early - I got there around 8am.
Also visited Mingo Falls, 120 feet waterfall. It is a short hike, but involves climbing 160 steps - great workout.
Soco Falls, where two waterfalls merge. There is a short walk to reach the observation deck. In addition, people can also hike down to get a close-up view of the falls - this trail has a rope for support.
Drove along the Blue Ridge Parkway, a 469 mile long road with many scenic spots along the Appalachians. Lots of tunnels running through the mountains. I spotted some blue-ish leaves near Mount Pisgah.
Stayed at Omni Grove Inn, in Asheville. This hotel sits on a hill, and is a great location to watch the sunset. It is especially pretty during fall with the fall foliage adding to a great sunset. Plus the Appalachian mountains appear blue during sunset.
