Seattle - July 28-30
As my flight neared Seattle, we were treated to clear views of Mount Rainier at sunset.
I stayed at Hyatt Olive 8, in downtown Seattle. This hotel is close to a light rail station and a few blocks from Pike's Place Market.
Mount Rainier National Park day tour. I did a similar tour 7 years ago and the weather was mostly cloudy and we only had a brief view of Mount Rainier. This time, the weather was sunny and enjoyed many views of Mount Rainier. Some of the views are postcard worthy, such as the view at Tipsoo Lake with some colorful wildflowers. The tour bus dropped us at the Sunshine visitor's center, 6400 ft elevation. Lots of hiking trails and lookout points. We even saw mountain goats.
Bainbridge Island ferry. Lots to see and do in the island. This trip, I focussed on the main downtown section near the port. Mora Iced Creamery has great ice cream, including the best green tea ice cream I have tasted. Smooth and flavorful.
