New York in Fall

The northeastern USA, including New York, becomes colorful during the fall season. Peak fall colors vary depending on where you are - the coast tends to peak later than inland. For New York City and surrounding areas, peak fall foliage is usually the last week of October into the first week of November.

For this trip, I stayed in Manhattan at the Hotel Eventi and visited several parks in the region.

Central Park

Colorful leaves among the Belvedere Castle, Bow Bridge, and Plaza Hotel.

Brooklyn
Some colors in the trees in Brooklyn Bridge Park. I also stopped by the Smith-9th Street station, the world's highest subway station.

Bear Mountain State Park
Bear Mountain State Park is a 1.5 hour bus ride from NYC. It sits between mountains and the Hudson River. I did a hike to the summit of Bear Mountain, 4 miles long with 1000 ft elevation gain. Gorgeous, colorful views at the top. There is an inn for visitors wanting to overnight, and the inn also has a restaurant to grab a meal between hikes.

Inwood Hill Park
Lots of trails to hike. I hiked to the Inwood Hill lookout, with views of the trees among the Hudson River.
