New York - June 2016

A weekend in New York, to catch up with other fellow travelers and enjoy the New York skyline. My hotel was the Hyatt Herald Square, with great views of the Empire State Building.

One World Trade Center, also known as Freedom Tower, is the tallest skyscraper in the Western Hemisphere. It is 1776 feet tall (from ground to top of spire) intending to symbolize the year the US Declaration of Independence was signed. The observatory allows for great views of Manhattan, especially at sunset. The World Trade Center complex has shown remarkable progress the past 15 years, and symbolizes the resiliency of New York.

Best places for views of the New York skyline: Brooklyn Bridge Park (check out their ice cream store), walking to Brooklyn Bridge (Brooklyn to Manhattan route), Gentry Plaza State Park, and Roosevelt Island.
