Seattle - July 4, 2016

Independence Day weekend in Seattle. I stayed at Grand Hyatt hotel, in Seattle's shopping district, then stayed at Hotel Alexis near Elliot Bay (thanks to a free night certificate) for my final night.

Downtown Seattle
Gold Rush museum, which has details about the Gold Rush including people's stories and the challenges people faced. There is also a scale which shows what your value would be if you owned gold equivalent to your weight. If I was made of gold, I would be worth over $82 million :)

Museum of Flight
Lots of vintage aircraft and spaceship here, as well as aviation history. Visitors have an opportunity to visit a control tower, sit in a former US Air Boeing 737 (everyone is in first class), tour the first presidential jet plane (modified Boeing 707), see a test version of the Boeing 787, and explore a Concorde.

Sky View
Sky View is an observatory on the 73rd floor of Columbia Center, the tallest building in Seattle and second tallest on the west coast. There is a 360 degree panoramic view of Seattle, including the Space Needle, Elliot Bay, Olympic Mountains, and Mount Ranier. Also a great place to watch the sunset. Sky View is a great alternative to the Space Needle - lower admission price and much shorter lines.

Tillicum Village and Fireworks
Ferry ride to Blake Island for a Northwest-themed meal and then a show featuring live actors. After a short hike around the island, return to the ferry to ride to the fireworks show near Bainbridge Island.
